The National Genealogical Society (NGS) expects as many as 2,000 family historians and professional genealogists in attendance at its 2017 Family History Conference in Raleigh, North Carolina. North Carolinian and other mid-Atlantic genealogical and historical societies are invited to showcase their organizations at Society Night, an innovative exposition, on Thursday, 11 May, 6:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m., at the North Carolina Museum of History. As an added draw, the entire Museum of History will be open exclusively to conference attendees so they may explore the many and varied exhibits relating to the history of our great state.

Societies can reserve one or two 6’ tables for $25 each, which includes two chairs per table. Participating societies will need to bring their own table covering as some of the tables are well used. Some suggestions would be quilts, tablecloths, banners, flags, and fabric. No electricity or internet connectivity can be provided. Set-up in the history museum can begin at 5:00 p.m. Parking is free after 5:00 p.m. in the lot next to the museum. Hours will be 6:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m. so plan on not packing up your table until after 9:00 p.m. Reserve your table soon because space is limited to thirty-five tables. The Exhibitors Hall registration is already sold out, and the registration for this conference is going very well.

Typically, society staff answers questions about their society’s activities, sell their publications, network with other conference guests, and help promote genealogical and historical research. This is a rare chance to reach conference attendees and tell them who you are, what you have done, and what services and resources you have available.

Across the street from the Museum of History is the North Carolina State Archives and Genealogy Library. We’ve arranged to have these wonderful repositories open on the same evening for limited touring and research. Archivists will assist you with your inquiries and record retrievals. For those who are attending the conference, it is a short, enjoyable walk from the convention center and hotels, or you can ride the R-Line Downtown Circulator bus.

If you would like to reserve a table, CLICK HERE to complete the online form. If paying by check, please complete the online form and mail payment to the NGS office at 3108 Columbia Pike, Suite 300, Arlington, VA 22204.

Hope to See You in Raleigh!
