Digging Deeper on your California Research

You’ve Looked at the Big Institutional Resources.  What Else is There?

We hope you have had a chance to watch or listen to the six California Research Series events hosted by the California Genealogy Society (available here). Now you are probably wondering what else there is to help you with your California research.

CGS is working hard to compile an exhaustive up-to-date list of local and county genealogical societies, small local historical societies, archives, and museums that may have that elusive information you are looking for.

CGS is still preparing the final state-wide resource but plans to make a free downloadable copy of Sacramento Area resources available to attendees at the NGS conference in May. The list of more than 60 resources covers Sacramento county and five of the adjacent counties (Amador, El Dorado, Placer, Sutter, and Yolo).

In the meantime, you might want to visit this website.  The Sacramento Regional Genealogical Council (SRGC) is an umbrella organization of local genealogy societies, libraries, archives, and museums.  They provide a common calendar of events for their member organizations and links to contacts and websites for those organizations.
