Lisa Louise Cooke, Speaker
SESSION: W145, TIME/DATE: Wednesday, 08 May 2019, at 2:30 pm
If you’d like to have hundreds of free detailed historic maps for the locations where your ancestors lived, this session is worth your time. Discover where you can locate free digitized maps and how to pull them together in the free Google Earth Pro software. You may have dabbled with Google Earth before, but in this session you’ll learn how easy it is to unlock its true genealogical potential.
See how to get the program set up on your computer and hear an easy-to-understand explanation of how it works. Then, we’ll jump into the business of tracking down those glorious historic maps both in the program and online. Finally, we’ll organize your new-found collection into your own personal “Historic Map Collection” just for your genealogy. Leave poised to add to your collection and expand your understanding of the places where your family once lived.
This is a fun, exciting, and inspiring hour suitable for all skill levels. If you’re a beginner, you’ll be getting off on the right foot. And if you’re a seasoned researcher, you’ll be re-energized by this new-found free resource!
Lisa Louise Cooke pioneered what she coined “Google Earth family history tours” back in 2007, and has taught it to thousands of happy genealogists around the world.
