Dropsy? Quinsy? Consumption? – Kimberly Ormsby Nagy
Dropsy? Quinsy? Consumption?
SESSION: T209, TIME & DATE: Thursday, 09 May 2019, 8 a.m.

Kimberly Ormsby Nagy
Did you ever wonder what caused your ancestor’s death?
While some causes may be obvious, others are more obscure. Once you find a diagnosis, we will learn what it was and how to decipher that into modern medical terminology. Sometimes a cause of death is listed simply as a number – this lecture helps you learn what that number means.
The session will also cover suggestions on where to look to find out about your ancestor’s health. Learning about the health issues faced by your ancestors may also help you learn more about your own health and risks.
Finally, we’ll also discuss various epidemics that affected our ancestors, and how these records may be different than the standard death records.
You can also learn more about different types of death records, in Kimberly’s session “Death Records: Moving from When and Where to Why and How” on Thursday at 2:30 p.m.
