The Hyde Co. Historical and Genealogical Society, organized in 1963, has as its mission to preserve and record the history of Hyde County and its people. Over 200 members strong, the group holds spring and fall meetings with speakers on different aspects of Hyde County’s history. It also maintains a resource library, located in the Mattamuskeet School library, for those doing historic research about Hyde or family research.

In addition, the Society has many publications available for purchase. Its journal, High Tides, is published twice a year in conjunction with the member meetings. Early deed abstracts, along with feature articles on different local historical events, and important individuals are included in this indexed journal. The Society has published other books on cemetery records, early census and marriage records, wills and the architectural history of the county which had its beginnings in colonial times. A publications listing is located at www.ncgenweb.us/hyde/HYDE.HTM

Our booth is #133, where we will have publications for purchase along with knowledgeable members willing to help with Hyde history. Please be sure to stop by!!
