IGHR – Booth 526
The Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research (IGHR) is an annual weeklong program that allows genealogists, both hobbyists and professionals alike, to study one genealogy-focused topic in-depth. Formerly held at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, 2017 marks the first year the Georgia Genealogical Society will host the institute in Athens, Georgia, from July 23rd-28th.
In Athens, IGHR attendees will enjoy classes, accommodations, and food all under the same roof at the Georgia Center for Continuing Education and UGA Hotel located on the campus of the University of Georgia. This new venue offers attendees wonderful opportunities to network and the convenience of having their hotel room an elevator-ride away from their classroom. IGHR attendees will also benefit from access to the world-class libraries of the University of Georgia, including its law library and special collections libraries.
IGHR’s long-tradition of excellence will not be changing in Athens. Its faculty is still composed of the same outstanding genealogy educators attendees have come to know and love at IGHR. The institute regularly enrolls over 200 students from around the country. We invite you to come visit us in the exhibit hall (booth #526) to talk about IGHR’s inaugural week in Athens this year!
The listing of 2017 and 2018 IGHR courses can be found on our website, http://ighr.gagensociety.org along with registration details. Registration for 2017 courses opened 3 February 2017.
