SA54 Bluegrass State Research: Finding Family in Kentucky

Saturday, 24 May 2025, 4:00 p.m., Combs Chandler room

Changing boundaries and loss of records make finding family in Kentucky challenging. Learn tricks to overcome these obstacles and find your Kentucky kin.

This session will discuss record creation and record loss in Kentucky, and substitutes to overcome that record loss. Most of the time will be spent showing how to find original Kentucky records on FamilySearch (records, catalog, images, and the Wiki) and Ancestry.com, and what to do if the records are not online. This is a good intro class for anyone getting started with Kentucky research.

Dana Palmer, CG, CGL, is a teacher, lecturer, author and professional genealogist. Her expertise focuses on Midwestern (Ohio) research, family books, photo editing, and lineage societies.
