Boston, MA – Faneuil Hall

SESSION: W142  TRACK: Eastern States       TITLE: My New England Research is Done–Or is it?

SESSION: T232  TRACK:  NYG&B Luncheon      TITLE:  New Yorkers in California: Three Inspiring Stories

SESSION:  S409  TRACK: Westward Migration      TITLE:  Faith, Adventure, and Fortitude: Tracing the Kingsley Family from Connecticut to California

D. Joshua Taylor, MLS, has been president of the New York Genealogical and Biographical Society (NYG&B), the country’s second oldest genealogical society, since 2016 and is host of the TV series Genealogy Roadshow (PBS), which has just completed its third season. He is also a past president of the Federation of Genealogical Societies, now merged with the National Genealogical Society, and a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists. He is a frequent lecturer at genealogical conferences.

Taylor will give three talks in Sacramento. The first is on continuing to work on your New England genealogy even after you’ve managed to trace your ancestors back to their 17th century immigrant forbears. Spoiler alert, there are often mistakes to be corrected and much more to learn about those New England ancestors. The second talk takes place at the NYG&B Luncheon on Thursday and covers three case studies of New York families who migrated to California and whose stories richly illustrate the conference theme, Our American Mosaic. Finally, on Saturday, Taylor discusses westward migration focusing on five members of the Kingsley family of Connecticut who migrated west to California for different reasons.

Remember that online registration for the NGS 2022 Family History Conference ends May 13. Onsite registration opens May 23 in Sacramento for those who choose to register upon arrival.
