Session: F245 Title: Andiamo! Finding Your Italian Family |
|
Knowing the history and context of Italian Americans helps us understand their choices when they came to America: why they were slow to naturalize, why they worked as laborers, why food was a source of celebration, and why family was the most influential institution. Naming patterns and name changes are illustrated. Using the FAN Club, US records are examined for clues to locating the town of origin.
Why did your ancestor have five cousins named Luigi? Was Sally really Serafina? Why did married women travel under their birth name? Learn the answers to these questions and more as we search for your Italian family! |
