COVID-19 Policy and Waiver

(Effective 10 January 2022)

Please be advised that NGS policy:

* requires that all attendees to in-person events provide proof of vaccination and a booster if applicable (“up to date” or “boosted” following CDC guidelines found here and here) along with proof of identification, and (revised 19 January 2022)

* requires that all attendees wear masks indoors.

Additionally, NGS will adhere to any additional regulations issued by the California Department of Public Health and orders of the Sacramento County Health Officer.

All conference participants—including sponsors, guest speakers, lecturers, exhibitors, and conference attendees—will be required to comply with NGS policy and the laws, rules, regulations, orders, and ordinances required at the time of the conference to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19. NGS will apprise all participants of the required protocols and procedures in advance of the conference. NGS will continue to monitor the changing guidelines for the COVID-19 pandemic and will update policies as needed.

All registrants for events in Sacramento, California, are required to agree to the following:

By registering for and attending the National Genealogical Society’s (NGS) Family History Conference, I agree to abide by NGS policy that requires I provide proof of vaccination and a booster (if applicable following CDC guidelines) along with proof of identification, all health and safety guidelines and recommendations promulgated by federal, state, and local government agencies and officials, NGS, and the event venue. This includes, but is not limited to, submitting to restrictions set in place during the event that consist of providing proof of vaccination (including identification) and wearing a mask at all times in indoor public areas, and may include engaging in appropriate physical distancing, and restrictions on certain activities that carry higher COVID-19-related risk, such as congregating in large private gatherings or attending off-site events in crowded facilities. I further agree that I will not attend the Family History Conference in person if I become ill, am exposed to the COVID-19 virus within 14 days prior to the event, or exhibit any symptoms of the COVID-19 virus prior to the event.

Additionally, I understand that travel to and participation in events may increase the risk of exposure to communicable diseases or other unforeseen dangers. I HEREBY RELEASE, WAIVE AND FOREVER DISCHARGE ANY AND ALL LIABILITY, CLAIMS, AND DEMANDS OF WHATEVER KIND OR NATURE AGAINST NGS AND ITS AFFILIATED PARTNERS AND SPONSORS, INCLUDING IN EACH CASE, WITHOUT LIMITATION, THEIR DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, VOLUNTEERS, AND AGENTS (THE “RELEASED PARTIES”), EITHER IN LAW OR IN EQUITY, TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMISSIBLE BY LAW, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO DAMAGES OR LOSSES CAUSED BY THE NEGLIGENCE, FAULT OR CONDUCT OF ANY KIND ON THE PART OF THE RELEASED PARTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO DEATH, BODILY INJURY, ILLNESS, ECONOMIC LOSS OR OUT OF POCKET EXPENSES, OR LOSS OR DAMAGE TO PROPERTY, WHICH I, MY HEIRS, ASSIGNEES, NEXT OF KIN AND/OR LEGALLY APPOINTED OR DESIGNATED REPRESENTATIVES, MAY HAVE OR WHICH MAY HEREINAFTER ACCRUE ON MY BEHALF, WHICH ARISE OR MAY HEREAFTER ARISE FROM MY PARTICIPATION WITH THE NGS FAMILY HISTORY CONFERENCE.

Finally, The SAFE Credit Union Convention Center has GBAC Star Facility Certification, which means it meets “the most stringent protocols for cleaning, disinfection, and infectious disease prevention.” The Convention Center also abides by state and county protocols.

By registering to attend the NGS 2022 Family History Conference, I understand that I am attending live sessions in-person or online at home, and that my voice and/or likeness may be recorded in any session(s) I attend. I further agree to forever release the National Genealogical Society from liability for any such recording(s) or use of any such recording(s).

Cancellation Policy

Updated 15 April 2022.

NGS must receive registrations on the conference website conference.ngsgenealogy.org or postmarked by 13 May 2022.

NGS must receive refund requests in writing via email or postmarked by 1 May 2022. All refunds incur a $50 service fee. No refunds after 1 May 2022. If the event in Sacramento is canceled to protect the safety of attendees, speakers, and exhibitors due to COVID-19, NGS will convert your registration to virtual attendance or you may cancel your registration with no service fee.
