New for 2026: APG Day in the Life of a Professional Genealogist Track

Wonder what it would be like to be a professional genealogist? NGS and the Association of Professional Genealogists are pleased to bring you the APG Day-in-the-Life Track at the 2026 conference. This new series gives you a closer look at the day-to-day of a professional genealogist, with a focus on Forensic Genealogy, Next-of-Kin Research/DNA/Investigative Genetic Genealogy, and More Jobs in Genealogy.

On each day of the conference, three spotlight (30 minute) sessions will each present a different aspect of professional genealogy, followed by a 30-minute panel discussion by the three presenters.

On Thursday, 28 May, from 230 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET, Peggy Clemens Lauritzen, AG, AGL, FOGS, will discuss Family History Research for clients, EvaAnne Johnson will speak on Genealogy and Local History Librarians, and Alec Ferretti will present on managing the Dual Citizenship process. (Thursday’s Day-in-the-Life sessions will be virtual presentations available on the Whova app.)

On Friday, 29 May, from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET, live at the conference, Hope Glidden will speak on Locating Next of Kin, Lorie Cousin discusses Unknown Parentage Cases, and Chelsea Hanrahan presents on Investigative Genetic Genealogy (IGG).

Saturday, 30 May, from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET, will feature three experts in forensic genealogy. Catherine Becker Wiest Desmarais, CG, will present on Military Repatriation cases, Michael S. Ramage, JD, CG, will speak on Probate and Heir Search cases, and Kelvin L Meyers will wrap things up with Mineral Rights and Real Estate research.
