Pre-Conference Workshops: Wednesday Afternoon, 27 May 2026

February 4th, 2026 by Matthew B. Berry, CG

The NGS 2026 Family History Conference will offer a wide variety of pre-conference workshops that offer in-depth, hands-on learning. These workshops emphasize applied skills and active participation, providing superior learning experiences not found online.
Our last post discussed three workshops being presented Wednesday morning. Two more workshops will be offered on the afternoon of Wednesday, 27 May:

WS07 Hands-On Mapping & Geospatial Analysis with Google Earth Pro for Genealogical Research

Instructor Colleen: Robledo Greene, FTxSGS

See your ancestors’ world from a new perspective. In this hands-on Google Earth Pro workshop, you’ll learn to overlay historical maps, plot addresses, and explore how families and communities changed over time. This workshop will benefit those who are brand new to the software while experienced users will learn new techniques and best practices.

WS08 Your Story, Your Book: Hands-On Self-Publishing

Instructor: Jill Morelli, CG, CGL

Write, design, and publish your story! Bring your manuscript—or start fresh with a provided journal—and learn how to turn your writing into a professional-quality, fully-revisable draft. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll draft, design, and self-publish using Lulu.com, mastering layout, cover design, and publishing essentials to confidently share your story with family or the world.
This workshop will be at the Allen County Public Library, one block from the Convention Center.

You must register as an In Person Attendee (Member, Non Member, or Guest) in order to register for a workshop. Workshops are add-on options that have an additional cost.
