The NGS Delegate Council meets Tuesday morning for its first in-person meeting including society collaboration breakouts.

FOCUS ON SOCIETIES | 12:00 p.m.–5:00 p.m. | Price: $100
All are invited to register for the Focus on Societies program, “Moving Forward in 2022,” which includes the “Society Shout-Out” at the luncheon followed by luncheon speaker, David E. Rencher, AG, CG, FUGA, FIGRS, sharing his thoughts on “Relevant Society Leadership in the Twenty-first Century.” In the afternoon participants will have a choice of topics and sessions beneficial to organization leadership.

SLAM! IDEA SHOWCASE | 5:30 p.m.–6:30 p.m.
The complimentary SLAM! Idea Showcase highlights creative and innovative projects or programs from genealogy societies, libraries, archives, and museums. Submitted posters will be displayed prior to the opening of the Expo Hall from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Winning video submissions will be shown during a special SLAM! film fest starting at 5:30 p.m. Come celebrate our SLAM! award winners. (Seating limited: Register early).

EXPO HALL OPENING

EXPO HALL | 6:30 p.m.–8:30 p.m. | (cash bar)
The Expo Hall will open at 6:30 p.m. and provide a long-awaited opportunity for conference attendees to reconnect and socialize with one another while perusing the many goods and services at the various booths. The Expo Hall will be open daily until Saturday afternoon.

Tackling the Family Narrative

This workshop will explore the skills needed to write a family history or a Kinship Determination Project (KDP): numbering and formatting the genealogical summary, arranging the narrative content, and incorporating visual aids, proofs, and special citation considerations.

Walk A Mile in Their Shoes: Writing the Ancestors’ Stories with Social History and Historical Context

This workshop focuses on understanding historical context and social history: how to research it, integrate it into an ancestor’s narrative, and create interest for your readers.
