New for 2026: Saturday Interactive Sessions

The NGS 2026 Family History Conference will feature ten interactive sessions that emphasize practice, collaboration, or hands-on learning using worksheets, case packets, maps, visual tools, or guided discussion. These sessions will be limited to about seventy-five participants. No cost enrollment using the Whova mobile app is required and will be available in mid-May.
In our last post we highlighted the new interactive sessions to be held on Friday. Five more interactive sessions will be held on Saturday, 30 May:

 

SA05 Unlocking the Past: A Genealogy Escape Room Experience

Instructor: Sarah Day, AG
Step into 250 years of American family history! Work in teams to solve puzzles, analyze records, and uncover ancestral stories in this interactive genealogy escape room that tests your research and problem-solving skills.

 


SA11 Thinking Like a Genealogist

Instructor: Cheri Hudson Passey
Learn the habits of an intermediate researcher. Practice using negative evidence, the FAN Club, and weighing conflicting records in this interactive, hands-on session.

 


SA18 Hands-on Practice: Analyzing Genealogical Documents

Instructor: Angela Packer McGhie, CG, FUGA
Put your analytical skills to the test in this hands-on session. Practice analyzing sources, information, and evidence while discussing physical characteristics, record reliability, related records, and evidence quality in an interactive group setting.


SA25 Heirloom Preservation for the Average Joe: How to preserve your families’ precious heirlooms

Instructor: Angela Knutson
Learn hands-on techniques for preserving family heirlooms and protecting them for future generations. With live demonstrations and practical tips, you’ll leave confident in how to care for your treasures at home.


SA32 America at 250: Celebrating with Intergenerational Family Stories and Community History Projects

Celebrate America at 250 by connecting generations through storytelling and shared history.
