Monday Tuesday Wed-Thurs Friday 15 June 2021 Learn new strategies, resources, records, and techniques to sharpen your family history skills at the National Genealogical Society (NGS) Family History Conference in 2021. Plans for NGS’s forty-third annual conference* include a full week of virtual events for individuals, societies, and organizations from 17-21 May 2021. NGS will feature days of great speakers, novel topics, live chat, Q&A time, a virtual expo hall, the NGS Awards announcements, drawings for genealogy-related prizes and more! The week starts off on Monday, 17 May with the Delegate Council Kickoff Workshop for NGS member organization delegates. Tuesday, 18 May is the SLAM! Idea Showcase for society leaders, librarians, archivists, and museum staff who serve genealogists. The main event, NGS 2021 Live!, is Wednesday and Thursday, 19‒20 May. This two-day virtual conference allows attendees to benefit from presentations by nationally recognized speakers, including Elizabeth Shown Mills, Thomas W. Jones, Barbara Vines Little, Judy Russell, Eric Grundset, Craig Scott, Janice Lovelace, and more. Don’t miss our live-interaction with speakers, be the first to hear about the NGS Award winners, find out about the latest genealogy-related products and services from our expo hall exhibitors, and perhaps even be one of our prize winners! Program content will include bonus lectures provided by sponsoring organizations. Download a PDF of the NGS 2021 Family History Conference program for a full list of sessions and continue to check our website for more details as we get closer to the events. The week ends with Focus on Societies on Friday, 21 May. This all-day event is devoted to virtual presentations by experts on topics that can help advise how to manage and grow your genealogical or historical society. In June, NGS will offer more opportunities for family historians to learn from subject matter experts with NGS 2021 On-Demand, a lecture series that you will be able to stream by choosing up to an additional 85+ sessions directly to your computer. The upcoming NGS 2021 Family History Conference will be held in Richmond, Virginia, and will offer the best and most expansive series of lectures to advance your research. Richmond is easily accessible and has several outstanding genealogical research facilities, including the Library of Virginia just a few blocks away. The NGS Family History Conference, 19–22 May 2021, is your opportunity to choose from more than 175 lectures, presented by many nationally recognized speakers, explore an exhibit hall filled with a host of exhibitors, and network with fellow genealogists. With the merger of the Federation of Genealogical Societies (FGS) and NGS in the fall of 2020, NGS is excited to announce a new program called Focus on Societies which includes a full day of lectures, workshops, and panels on Tuesday, 18 May. Every NGS conference has a different theme with a new program top to bottom—so there is always more to learn and discover. We hope that COVID-19 will not be a factor in May 2021; however, contingency plans will be in place for any eventuality and to ensure the health and safety of registrants, sponsors, exhibitors, and staff. We’re confident that we will have a strong and enriching program for everyone interested in family history research.
